Part 3 : Promotions, special events, sales... how to make customers aware?
How to draw attention to deals and promotions?
40. Make sure your customers spot that unmissable deal! Whether it is a discount, a buy two, get one free offer, or any other promotion.
41. Use a larger font for promotions than used elsewhere.
42. Use red, orange, yellow and neon colours to draw attention to promotions. These colours are often used for this purpose, because they are eye-catching. They immediately signal to customers that they can expect to find a bargain!
43. In addition to colour, think about shapes and symbols associated with promotions: exclamation marks, star shaped signs, etc.
44. Spare your customers the effort, and encourage impulse buys, by calculating savings for them: the offer price in large text and the normal price next to it in a smaller font or crossed out.
45. Create dedicated areas (table, end of aisle), so promotional items are separated from the rest of your stock.
How to vary your communication strategy by using key events.
46.Your year is punctuated by established events, such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day. These events don’t necessarily require signage or specific displays, as they are already so familiar to your customers. But use them for inspiration if you wish.
47. You can also create your own initiatives! For example, if you are a fishmonger and Tuesday is a quiet day, launch “salmon Tuesday!” with a promotion on this fish. The event must be clearly advertised inside and outside your shop, as well as on your social media accounts. In short: make some noise!
